Welcome everyone! I finished my doctorate in anthropology at Johns Hopkins University in 2019, and am currently the Palestinian Studies Postdoctoral Research Associate at Brown University. My dissertation is called Plots and Deeds: Property and Formations of Land Defense in the West Bank, and these days I’m working on turning it into a book. I’m also starting a second research project that looks at tech capital, service sector labor, surplus population, and entrepreneurship across Israel/Palestine. My full cv is here.
I’m also kind of fascinated by archives. As I did when I was working on the dissertation, I’ll be posting bits and pieces from the cutting room floor as Plots and Deeds moves forward. I’ve also tried to make some of the archival material I came across in the field available as well.
In addition to the academic stuff, I have done various research projects as part of my involvement with Palestine solidarity work. This has involved research and translation for the Stop the Wall Campaign and a related group, the Land Defense Coalition. Get in touch with me about any of this at paul_kohlbry[at]brown.edu.
